    Howells' Requiem
The mood was one of remembrance as we performed a set of moving and contemplative pieces at our recent autumn concert. This was the first concert with our new conductor, James Savage-Hanford and was superbly accompanied on the organ by Alastair Stone. We were very gratified to have such a large and appreciative.audience
We now look ahead to our joint Advent concert with St Aidan's High School Chamber Choir directed by Jo Leonard on Friday 6th December at St Wilfrid’s Church, Harrogate - all details can be found within the upcoming events on our website.

    Welcome James!
Welcome to our new Musical Director, James Savage-Hanford, as we start rehearsals for our new season. We are very much looking forward to working with James, who brings with him a wealth of experience as choral conductor, musicologist and acclaimed vocal soloist.
We began this new chapter by working on Herbert Howells’ visionary, moving and hopeful Requiem which will form part of our remembrance-themed autumn concert at Wesley Chapel, Harrogate, on Saturday 9th November. A very promising season ahead for Vocalis!

Viva la Musica - our 50th Anniversary Concert!
Thank you to everyone who recently helped us celebrate our 50th Anniversary concert! We have had such lovely comments about our singing and we were so pleased with how many members of the audience joined us for a roof raising performance of Parry's 'I was glad' with our friend John Longstaff adding a special extra element accompanying us on the organ.
A highlight of the evening was the world premier performance of our specially commissioned piece by Anthony Gray - 'When Music Sounds'.
We were so pleased to be able to welcome two former Musical Directors and lots of former choir members, including members from our Harrogate Chamber Singers era. We were also delighted that two founder members were amongst us and we had a fantastic evening catching up with lots of friends!
The occasion was tinged with sadness as we said goodbye to our wonderful Musical Director, Alex Kyle. We have had an exciting 11 years with him at the helm and wish him well for what we know will be a bright future! But the choir goes on and as we look forward to our next 50 years we will be welcoming James Savage-Hanford as our new Musical Director from September!
